The house is situated in a town district which is rather unattractive and undefined in its whole concept. There were no considerations in former times as to architecture and outlay. There is, moreover, very heavy traffic because of its position near a rather busy crossing.
There was the idea of “the red house". It is meant as an opposition to all the parameters mentioned above. Its colour and its volume, its stature and its appearance, its position and its nature are of a creative power. A “solitaire", as it were, a building of significance in its surroundings which demands evaluation and orientation. From the outside it has a secluded appearance with its smoothly curving facade and a great number of windows as if punched into the walls. A cube resting in itself, rather unconventionally planned.
Of course this “red house" leaps to the eye and it maintains its creative position in this part of the city. But not aggression or disharmony are its characteristics but a building proud of its colour.
A charming appearance which makes one ask the questions about the “behind" and the ”inside". Usual norms are being questioned, and there are reactions, first erratic, then enriching. The building needs to be “conquered" and used in order to understand its very essence: introversion to the outside but much flexibility and vastness in its inner dimensions.
